Frequently Asked Questions
Psychologists are students of psychology, the scientific field that studies the human mind and human behaviours. Through developing insights and understanding into how individuals and collectives function, psychologists seek to help people improve their wellbeing. Australian psychologists are required to have a Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) registration.
Psychologists can be both researchers and practitioners. While researchers dedicate their time to the academic study of psychology, psychologists work with people to help them overcome or gain insight into their mental health and/or behavioural problems. Often times these problems can manifest in numerous ways including maladaptive behaviours or thought processes; interpersonal and intrapersonal conflicts; and emotional dysregulation.
A psychologist can help you improve the quality of your life across a number of domains depending on what you need. We use evidence-based, validated therapy strategies that can effectively help treat and/or manage common problems like anxiety disorders, depression and relational conflicts. We can also tailor strategies to benefit people suffering from more individualised problems.
