Autism Assessments Central Coast
Professional Central Coast Autism Assessments with a Personalised Approach
At Evolve Psychology Services, we understand the importance of early identification and appropriate support. Our autism assessments on the Central Coast are designed to help individuals, families, and support teams better understand unique strengths and challenges. Whether you’re seeking clarity for your child or yourself, we offer respectful, professional and person-centred guidance every step of the way.
We offer in-person appointments at our welcoming Central Coast clinic, as well as school visits, home visits, and online sessions. We aim to make the assessment experience as comfortable and convenient as possible.
We are here for you
Our autism assessments are designed to be comprehensive and supportive from start to finish. You can expect a warm, respectful process that begins with an initial consultation, followed by a detailed history and assessment using gold-standard tools.
We also collaborate with schools and caregivers when appropriate to ensure a complete picture of the individual’s strengths and needs. A thorough written report is provided at the end, complete with clear explanations and practical recommendations to guide next steps across education, therapy, and support planning.
What to Expect
We know that assessments, particularly for children, can feel overwhelming for families. At Evolve, we aim to make the process clear, supportive, and child-friendly. At every step, our focus is on your child’s wellbeing. We adapt sessions to their pace, celebrate their efforts, and create a safe and supportive environment.
Step 1
Initial Consultation
We begin with a parent or caregiver interview to gather background information. This helps us understand your child’s developmental history, current strengths and challenges, and what you hope to learn from the assessment.
Step 2
Assessment Sessions
For cognitive and autism assessments, children attend structured sessions with one of our psychologists. These may involve play-based tasks, puzzles, problem-solving activities, and standardised tools such as the WISC-V or WPPSI for cognitive testing, and ADOS-2 or MIGDAS for autism assessments. Breaks are provided as needed to ensure your child feels comfortable and supported.
Step 3
Behavioural & Parent Measures
Parents and sometimes teachers are asked to complete questionnaires (e.g., Vineland-3, Conners, SRS-2). These provide important insights into how your child thinks, learns, and interacts in everyday environments.
Step 4
Scoring & Analysis
Our psychologists score and interpret the assessment tools, combine the findings with interview and questionnaire results, and form a clear picture of your child’s cognitive, social, and emotional profile.
Step 5
Feedback Session
Once testing is complete, you will meet with the psychologist to go through the results in plain language. We focus on practical recommendations to help your child at home, school, and in the community.
Step 6
Written Report
You will receive a comprehensive written report, which includes test results, explanations, and tailored recommendations. This report can be shared with schools, doctors, or the NDIS to support funding applications and ongoing intervention planning.
The Therapy Processes
Therapeutic sessions are 50 minutes in duration and the frequency of appointments is individually tailored to meet your current needs and goals. It may be necessary during the therapy process for your psychologist to consult with your other health professionals. Your written consent will be requested and obtained prior to consulting your additional health professionals.
Psychologists are bound by a professional code of ethics and are required to abide by principles of professional conduct, legal matters, responsibilities and confidentiality.
