Improved Relationships (Behaviour Support)
Improved Relationships is a NDIS funding category designed to help participants build positive relationships, improve communication, and reduce behaviours of concern that may impact safety, quality of life, or participation in the community. This funding is accessed under Capacity Building Supports and includes specialist behaviour support services to develop strategies that are proactive, person-centred, and consistent across all settings (home, school, community, respite).
Behaviour Support funding under Improved Relationships typically includes:
- Development of a Functional Behaviour Assessment (FBA) to identify the underlying causes or functions of behaviours of concern.
- Development and implementation of a Behaviour Support Plan (BSP) outlining evidence-based, positive strategies to reduce or replace behaviours of concern.
- Ongoing behaviour support sessions to train support staff, family members, and other stakeholders in implementing these strategies consistently.
- Regular plan reviews, data collection, and updates to ensure the support plan remains effective and aligned with the participant’s goals.
Who Can Provide Behaviour Support?
The NDIS requires that behaviour support services must only be delivered by a NDIS-registered provider under the registration group 11_010_0110_7_3 – Specialist Behaviour Support.
These services must also be delivered by NDIS-registered Behaviour Support Practitioners who are approved under the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
Evolve Psychology Services is a fully NDIS-registered provider for both Therapeutic Supports (Registration Group 0118) and Specialist Behaviour Support (Registration Group 0110).
All Behaviour Support Practitioners at Evolve Psychology Services are NDIS-registered and approved by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission to deliver behaviour support under the Improved Relationships category.
Improved Daily Living – Psychology Supports
Improved Daily Living is a NDIS funding category designed to help participants build their functional capacity, independence, and emotional wellbeing through therapeutic supports such as psychology. This funding is accessed under Capacity Building Supports, and focuses on developing practical skills that enable participants to manage daily life, improve communication, regulate emotions, and participate meaningfully in their community, school, or workplace.
Psychology supports funded under Improved Daily Living may include:
- Individual therapy sessions to develop emotional regulation, coping strategies, and mental health management skills.
- Support to build confidence, resilience, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Interventions targeting anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, or other psychological challenges.
- Capacity-building work to help participants set and achieve personal goals.
- Assistance with developing problem-solving, decision-making, and adaptive life skills.
- Collaboration with families, schools, and other providers to ensure consistent support and goal alignment.
Goal of Improved Daily Living Funding
The goal of Improved Daily Living funding is to build the participant’s psychological and functional capacity to live as independently as possible, improve daily coping skills and emotional regulation, strengthen resilience and goal-setting abilities, enhance relationships and community engagement, and support long-term wellbeing and quality of life.
Who Can Provide Psychology Supports?
Psychology supports under Improved Daily Living must be delivered by a NDIS-registered provider under the registration group 11_022_0118_7_3 – Therapeutic Supports.
These services must be delivered by qualified and registered psychologists who are appropriately credentialed and work within their scope of practice.
Evolve Psychology Services is a registered NDIS provider for Therapeutic Supports (Registration Group 0118), enabling participants to access psychology through their Improved Daily Living funding.
All clinicians are qualified, experienced, and work in accordance with the NDIS Code of Conduct and NDIS Practice Standards.

NDIS: What is Improved Relationships?

Funds for Improved Relationships are most commonly put towards Behavioural Therapy services, which help you build your capacity through structured behaviour development plans, regular social support and other activities.
Psychologists are bound by a professional code of ethics and are required to abide by principles of professional conduct, legal matters, responsibilities and confidentiality.
